Al-Majnoun Books A lyrics book, originally made for the release of a double-release under the same name by Levi Ovesen, Jacob’s musical pseudonym. The book features 26 original songs written between 2019 and 2024. “The Stripped Preacher” brings together acoustic demos of said songs, recorded in 2024. Its songs tackle themes of christianity, grief and politics, making use of magical realism, self-mythology, and confrontative honesty.
The lyrics book, based on a psalm book, lays out its text in continuous text rather than lyrical lines, enhancing their reading into a mode somewhere between poetry and prose. Annotations give closer accounts of the history of the songs featured.
